Char Dham Yatra 2023: Taking lessons from last year’s Char Dham Yatra (Char Dham Yatra 2022), this time the government has started finalizing the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Tourism department has started preparing for the Char Dham Yatra, so that all the arrangements are completed before the commencement of the yatra. Last year, the number of devotees in the four Dhams was so high that the government’s arrangements were exposed, but this time the government does not want the devotee to face any problems.
That’s why instructions have been given to all the departments that preparations should be made before the season.
The Char Dham Yatra will start in Uttarakhand from the month of April. This time the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will open on April 22, while the outlets of Badrinath Dham will be opened on April 27. Baba Kedarnath Dham will open on the 25 of April in the morning at 6:25 AM, that is, the Char Dham Yatra will start in Uttarakhand from the last week of April. From this point of view, the government has only 2 months left to complete the arrangements. That’s why the government has directed all its departments to complete all the preparations before the travel season.
For this, especially the PWD, Tourism, Drinking Water, and Animal Husbandry Departments are preparing for the yatra, so that like last year, this year the travelers do not face difficulties, although Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj claims that all the necessary arrangements for the yatra will be made. Preparation is complete. On the other hand, the opposition says that the government should complete all the preparations for the Yatra because the Char Dham Yatra is an issue related to the economy of Uttarakhand. The way people faced problems last year, it should not happen this time.
Last year, the issue of the death of horses and mules in Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham was also very hot. Hundreds of horses died during the yatra, but this time the Animal Husbandry Department has made special arrangements for this during the yatra season. Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna told that a token arrangement will already be made for horses and mules in both the Dhams. Rest will be given once after the journey. Hot water will be arranged on the way on foot, and camps of doctors will be set up on the way so horses and mules can get treatment on time.
This time the passengers coming on the yatra will have to spend a little more on the fare because while on one hand the fare of the buses is being increased by about 5%, on the other hand, the Civil Aviation Department has also prepared to increase the Kedarnath Heli service ticket. Secretary Civil Aviation Dilip Jawalkar told that for the last 3 years, there has been no increase in the tickets for the Heli service nor the tendering, but this time there has been a proposal for some increase which is being considered.
Last year, about 46 lakh pilgrims reached Char Dham Yatra for darshan, due to which a business of about 211 crores was also done. According to such a large number of passengers, the government was not able to make arrangements, due to which the passengers had to face a lot of problems.
At the same time, the death of horses and mules had also exposed the claims of the government, but this time the government does not want their preparations to remain half-incomplete, so instructions have been given to the departments to complete the preparations on time.
